A very forgettable draft class, had one bright side for Medicine Hat. Mika Nittymaki was drafted 25th, a steal for a player ranked in the top ten. This goalie will make an immediate impact for Medicine Hat, and will continue to for years to come. Anthony Holden was another good pick to fill in for the retired D-Man, Francois Boullion. Now to the key additions.

The first round of Medicine Hat vs Los Angeles was very quick and one-sided. Los Angeles absolutely pounded a revamped Medicine Hat squad. It showed Medicine Hat how much they missed Cammelleri. It also showed, yet again, that Chad McAllister couldn't perform in key situation, and actually never. The only question is, who will McAllister be traded for?

A big shocker in Medicine Hat, Mike Cammelleri has been shipped out for a younger player, Ryan Callahan. Mike Cammelleri has been the team captain since 2008-2009 season and has lead the team in points every year except one. But this move was inevitable. Chad McAllister, and extraordinary player is at the end of is contract and will demand a huge pile of money, so letting go the 7 million Brian Gionta, and 8 million Mike Cammelleri has made way for Chad McAllister's big 4 year $9.12m contract.

Stanley Cup Final Wrap-up+Awards

It wasn't a very close series due to DiPietro setting a franchise record for most shutouts in the playoffs. DiPietro played phenomenal and showed why he should have been starting the whole playoffs. He didn't face many shots in Game 1 but he turned away 26 shots in Game 2 and 24 in Game 3, only letting in one shot out of a total of 50 shots. The Magicians also proved they could win games without they're leading scorer, Mike Cammelleri. He was hip checked late in game 1 and suffered a broken leg.

The Magicians advance to the Stanley Cup Finals for the first team ever. Props goes out to DiPietro for finishing out the series in fashion. It came down to the last game for Medicine Hat, they had many chances to win, but the goaltending of Cloutier stopped them until 20 seconds left where Ales Hemsky, just back from injuries, scored a goal top shelf to win the game and advance to the next round.

Three Stars of the Series

1) Dustin Byfuglien earned 8 points this round setting a franchise record for most points for a defenseman in the playoffs for Medicine Hat.

2) Cammelleri also played good getting another 5 points added to his total.

3) The biggest story again earns the third star as Goalie Par Dahl didn't lose one game while in net. Lets see how consistent he is in the Conference Finals.

The first two games Cammellari had 4 points and led the team to the first two wins, two third period meltdowns by DiPietro cost the Magicians Game 4 and 6.

Three Series Stars

1) Mike Cammelleri deserved first star earning 8 Points in 6 games. He scored 1 Game winning goal and set up two more.

2) Joey Tanabe the rookie earns 2nd star with 6 points including 2 Short Handed Points.

3) The biggest reason they won this series was the Play of Byfuglien earning 5 points but had 24 hits and some important plays.

Halfway through the season the Magicians sitting in 13th needed to make a change. So they traded Jussi Jokinen and Milan Michalek for Kyle Chipchura and a 1st round pick. Also they traded Phil Kessel for Brad Boyes. These changes may have been enough to push them into a 5th place seed to make the post-season.

This year the Magicians added some depth to the team which will create a great offense, good goaltending, but weak defense as the Magicians lost two key defensemen and didn't add any defensemen. This season is looking optimistic for Medicine Hat, as they also have an up and coming star goalie in Par Dahl. In a few years, this youngster will be the number one starter, but for now AHL starter is all he is.

Post-Season Woes Continue

Not only did the Magicians not get past the first round, once again. They also missed the playoffs by one spot, and 6 points. The hopes of a great team this season faded towards the last 6 games where the Magicians were 10 points behind. Emery stepped up getting 2 shut-outs and only losing 1 game before their final game. They were now 2 points behind with a win clinching, but the Magicians lost in OT to knock them out of the playoffs.

The Magicians for their second year, were in a position to grab 7th place. They needed to win their remaining games to ensure the 7th spot, but a loss may also allow them through. With starting goalie Al Montoya fatigued from playing too much, Devan Dubnyk got the starts. He won 3 of the 4 games and lost the final one in OT to clinch the 7th seed.

Medicine Hat will be playing division rivals for the second year, and will play Calgary this year.

Even though we didn't get coverage for the last three games, we can tell you that the scores were evenly matched but it was known that Colorado was the better team, and that the Magicians needed some changes starting with their draft choice. Due to their Salary Cap, Jarret Stoll and a 2nd round pick were traded for the 1st pick in the draft. Here is how the results were.

1st Pick RW Chad Mcallister
This player here is a Franchise Player like Crosby or Ovechkin. He will come into the NHL and play phenomenal right off the bat, and impact every player with his abilities.

2nd Pick LW James Cammelleri
Cammelleri is a 3rd or 4th line player in the AHL, with potential to develop into a 1st liner in the NHL.

3rd Pick LW Rich Rome
Rome is also an AHL player with great potential.

4th LW Len Martinez
A low quality player that will take a few years to develop.

5th Pick LW Keith Manallemberg
Same quality player as Martinez, but will develop faster.

Playoffs Round One, Games 1-4: Colorado vs Medicine Hat

1st Period
The first period was all the Magicians'. Pisani got a beautiful feed from Sanderson to score a nice wrister, off the post and in. Shortly after Nilsson got a pass from Horcoff to one-time home the second goal of the game. Shots were 14-7 for Colorado.

2nd Period
Contrary to the 1st period, the 2nd belonged to Colorado. LaPerriere and Smyth scored for the Avalanche with assists from Statsny, Sakic, Briesbois, and Hejduk. Shots were 20-12 for Colorado.

3rd Period
With the way the Magicians played in this period the score could've been 20-0 but Theadore kept Colorado all square until, with 15 seconds left Jokinen, faked to the outside and went to the inside, to snipe a slapshot top shelf for the game winner. Game 1 goes to Medicine Hat with the Magicians out shooting Colorado 28-25.

Announced right after the game, due to the inconsistency of both Garon and Mueller, 21 year old rookie goalie, Devan Dubnyk will be called up and starting as long as he plays well.

Game 3

Medicine Hat 4 Colorado 1

1st Period
Dubnyk knew this was his chance to show he can be a future starter. The first period started out with domination by Medicine Hat. Two minutes in Stoll made a nice fore check to cough the puck up to Hemsky, who backhanded a high glove side goal. Stoll was not credited with the assist. Minutes later some nice passing by Horcoff and Cheechoo set up a one time goal by Jarret Stoll. At the end of the first the shots were 7-4 for the Magicians.

2nd Period
The Magicians continued to dominate on the score board in the 2nd, when early on a one-time pass from Souray to Stoll, set up Cheechoo in front to score a goal through the five-hole. After facing a flurry of shots, Thedore couldn't handle the shot by Hemsky, assisted by Stoll and Pisani. Dubnyk faced many shots, including a onslaught of 8 shots by the Avalanche, where he turned away every shot. Shots were 14-14 after two.

3rd Period
Colorado pressured Dubnyk a lot this period, to the point where he cracked and let in a hard snap shot by Joe Sakic, assisted by LaPierriere and Smyth. There were many more shots by Colorado but Dubnyk turned away 13 shots in the period to gain his first career NHL win. Shots were 27-21 for Colorado, earning Dubnyk 3rd Star.

Game 4

Medicine Hat 4 Colorado 1

1st Period
A very slow period with not many shots had only one highlight, with Thedore making a nice diving save on Ales Hemsky. Shots were 7-3 for Colorado.

2nd Period
The second period was a very undisciplined one by Medicine Hat, who let Colorado get two 5-3s, but ended up killing them off and even scoring a goal. Hemsky got a nice feed from Stoll and took a slap shot from the wing to beat Thedore. Also assisted by Souray. Shots are 15-9 for Colorado.

3rd Period
This was a very exciting period, which started off with some nice passing by Stoll and Hemsky to set up Horcoff for the early 2-0 lead in the 3rd. But less then 2 minutes later Wolski got a feed from Svatos to poke it through Dubnyk's five hole to end his shut out. A nice pass by Souray at the 10 minute mark sprung Sanderson on a break, but couldn't get a shot off before getting hauled down, giving him a Penalty Shot. Sanderson made no mistake and faked to his forehand before backhanding a beauty in. With time running down Colorado unleashed a flurry of shots with no success which then caused another goal by Medicine Hat. This time Nilsson got it, assisted by Horcoff and Reasoner. Game over with 1st star going to Dubnyk for turning away 30 shots.

Dubnyk was announced as the starter for the remainder of the Playoffs after the game.

End of Season

With 4 games left until the end of the season, Medicine Hat had to win their remaining 4 games to ensure a spot in the playoffs. They played Colorado first, the Northwest Division Leaders, then a home and home series with Calgary, and the final game of the season against Vancouver. The Magicians managed to edge Colorado 3-2, then sweep the series against Calgary, but lost in OT against Vancouver. Their only hope was a Detroit loss, which ended up happening, meaning Medicine Hat plays their division rival and leader, Colorado Avalanche. The Magicians announced that Robert Mueller would be starting.

Trade Deadline Update

It's more than halfway through the season, and the charging Magicians are pulling up on Calgary. Magicians are standing in 6 place, 3 points behind division rivals, the Calgary Flames. Magicians needed to shake something up so they traded Mike Richards to Dallas for Jussi Jokinen. Also the Magicians picked up Yanic Perreault off of waivers to give them an extra edge. Many trades were offered to the Magicians but none were very enticing.
